Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about HabanoFinder.
What is HabanoFinder?
HabanoFinder is a search engine and price comparison platform exclusively for Cuban cigars (Habanos). We aggregate listings from 7 vetted online retailers, normalize product data, and let you compare prices, stock availability, and per-cigar costs all in one place.
We do not sell cigars. Every purchase happens directly between you and the retailer.
How often are prices updated?
We scrape every tracked retailer every 15 minutes. That means pricing, stock status, and product availability are refreshed up to 96 times per day. While we strive for accuracy, prices on retailer sites can change at any time — always confirm on the retailer's site before purchasing.
Are these retailers legitimate?
Yes. All 7 retailers we track are sourced from the r/cubancigars community wiki, which maintains a vetted list of reputable vendors. These sites have established track records of selling authentic Cuban cigars and shipping to the United States.
The retailers we track are: RSVP Cigars, Top Cubans, CigarOne, Cigars of Cuba, Cuban Lou's, Mr. Puro, and Bellhop Cigars.
How does price comparison work?
When you search for a cigar, we show you every listing from every tracked retailer that carries it. Each listing displays the total price, quantity (single, 3-pack, box of 25, etc.), and the calculated price per cigar.
You can sort results by total price, price per cigar, or retailer. Filter by in-stock items only, quantity type, or price range to narrow down your options.
What is the difference between free and premium?
Free tier includes full search with autocomplete, browse by brand or vitola, filtering and sorting, price per cigar calculations, current pricing across all sites, community retailer reviews, and 30 days of price history.
Premium tier adds instant in-stock email alerts, full historical price data (all time, not just 30 days), price drop alerts, deal scoring that identifies cigars priced significantly below average, and priority support.
How do in-stock alerts work?
Add any cigar to your watchlist and we will monitor it across all retailers. The moment we detect it is back in stock during one of our 15-minute scrape cycles, we send you an email.
Premium members receive alerts instantly. Free members who have opted in receive the same alerts with a 24-hour delay. For popular, hard-to-find cigars, that timing difference can mean the difference between getting a box and missing out.
How is price-per-cigar calculated?
We divide the listed price by the quantity in the listing. A box of 25 Montecristo No. 2 priced at $500 works out to $20.00 per cigar. A single stick of the same cigar at $25 is $25.00 per cigar. This makes it easy to compare value across different quantities and retailers at a glance.
What currencies are supported?
Most tracked retailers price in USD. CigarOne prices in Swiss Francs (CHF), which we convert to USD using current exchange rates so you can compare all prices in one currency. The original CHF price is always shown alongside the converted amount.
How do site reviews work?
Any registered user can leave a review for a retailer they have purchased from. Reviews include a text description, an overall star rating, shipping speed rating, and cigar condition rating.
Reviews help the community identify which retailers offer the best experience — from packaging quality and shipping speed to customer service and cigar freshness.
Can I suggest a retailer to add?
Absolutely. If you know of a legitimate Cuban cigar retailer that ships to the US and is not yet tracked, email us at a@ronschlegel.com. We vet every site before adding it to ensure authenticity and reliability.
Is HabanoFinder affiliated with any retailer?
No. HabanoFinder is fully independent. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with any of the retailers we track. We exist solely to help cigar enthusiasts find the best prices on authentic Habanos.
